What is Green Cleaning?

Green cleaning can mean a lot of things. The definition we like is that the main goal of green cleaning is to keep both us and our environment healthy!

This can involve cleaning products that contain biodegradable ingredients, less pollutants and no synthetic fragrances. Some green cleaning products will also use recyclable packaging and be marked as fair trade.

Green cleaning also includes a focus on efficient cleaning practices. This can be things like using proper equipment to reduce waste along with regularly maintaining that equipment. Proper equipment can be things like a high quality vacuum, using microfiber cloths, quality reusable dusters and mop heads.
Preventable measures are also involved such as putting a mat at the front door that traps debris before it comes inside or by regularly cleaning high traffic areas to stop the spread of dirt and germs.

How do you know if a product is green?

Finding green cleaning products can be a challenge in our consumer driven world. So many products are marked ‘eco friendly’ or ‘natural’ when they actually aren’t. You also have to pay attention to the ingredients so you know that the product, although environmentally friendly actually works to clean your home and kill germs.
